This is a new way of cataloging SSM's on our Forum that is controlled by the Moderators, new data will be added as it becomes available..

Please post any new or omitted SSM numbers you might have in the Discussion area, they will be updated here, thanks.

 

The format for this project is the SSM number, Title and the complete content.  These are usually shorter than TSB's so the content can be displayed.

 

SSM # 20506  2007-2009 VEHICLES WITH 3.5L - ENGINE OIL LEAK DIAGNOSIS
3.5L ENGINE OIL LEAK, FOLLOW WSM PROCEDURE FOR DIAGNOSIS OF ENGINE OILS LEAKS(303-00) PRIOR TO CONTINUING WITH THIS SSM. IF THE LEAK IS NOT ELIMINATED, ANDOIL IS PRESENT IN THE FRONT ENGINE MOUNT BRACKET BOLTS, OIL PAN BOLTS, OR OTHERBLOCK BOLT BOSSES IT MAY BE DUE BLOCK POROSITY INSIDE THE BOLT HOLE AND MAY BEPRESENT ON THE ENGINE BLOCK IN AREAS WITH OR WITHOUT A BOLT INSTALLED. CLEAN ANDRESEAL BOLT OR INSTALL A BOLT IF NEEDED WITH MOTORCRAFT THREADLOCK AND SEALER,TA-25. VERIFY REPAIR. TIP: A Q-TIP CAN BE USED TO CONFIRM PRESENCE OF OIL ANDDYE IN A BOLT HOLE. IF OIL LEAK IS AT THE REAR LOWER PART OF THE ENGINE ANDAPPEARS AS A REAR MAIN LEAK, IT MAY BE DUE TO POROSITY IN THE ENGINE BLOCKVALLEY. VERIFY THE REAR SEAL IS NOT LEAKING PRIOR TO CHECKING THE VALLEY UNDERTHE INTAKE MANIFOLD FOR LEAKS. REPAIR ANY VALLEY LEAK AS NEEDED.

SSM #20697  VEHICLES WITH P035X (OR P0351 - P0360) DTC CODES
SOME FORD AND LINCOLN-MERCURY VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT A P035X CODE. THIS COULD BECAUSED BY A PARTIALLY CONNECTED IGNITION COIL CONNECTOR, WHICH MAY APPEAR TO BECONNECTED. PULL ON THE CONNECTOR TO VERIFY IT IS LOCKED. IF PARTIALLY CONNECTEDTHEN UNPLUG AND RECONNECT. YOU SHOULD HEAR A AUDIBLE CLICK OR SNAP WHEN FULLYCONNECTED. IF THERE ARE NO ISSUES WITH CONNECTION THEN PROCEED WITH NORMALDIAGNOSTICS.

THIS MAY BE DUE TO THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK BINDING IN THESTEERING LOCK HOUSING ASSEMBLY AND NOT ALLOWING THE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER ANDKEY TO TURN. 6F50 AND 6F55 TRANSMISSION TRS SENSOR IS RETAINED IN THE TRANSMISSION CASE WITHA RETAINING PIN. THERE IS A NEW ESSENTIAL SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL 307-696 TO BEUSED TO REMOVE THE PIN FROM THE TRANSMISSION CASE WITHOUT DAMAGING THE PIN ORTHE TRANSMISSION CASE. THE NEW SERVICE TOOL ATTACHES TO THE TRANSMISSION CASEWITH THE USE OF TWO PAN BOLTS. PLACE THE NEW SERVICE TOOL ON THE PAN RAIL IN THEAREA ABOVE THE TRS, ALIGN TWO HOLES IN THE FLAT PLATE OF THE TOOL WITH TWOTHREADED PAN BOLT HOLE. INSTALL TWO BOLTS TO HOLD TOOL IN PLACE. SSM #12055  2009-2013 Multiple Vehicle Lines - Battery Light Flickers - Stays On - Low Charging
Some 2009-2013 Multiple vehicle lines may exhibit low charging system voltage, flickering battery indicator lamp, or battery indicator lamp on. This may be caused by engine vibration or improper probing of the 3 pin wiring harness connector at the generator. These conditions can cause a loose or spread terminal on theharness side of the connection. Service tip using the purple male flex probe from Rotunda Flex Probe Kit (NUD105-R025D), or a male terminal from box 3, drawer C-16 of the wire terminal repair kit. If there is no drag felt when pulling the flex probe/terminal from the harness connector terminal, the connector can be repaired with wiring pigtail kit WPT-118 (14S411), refer toWiring Diagram section 5 for wiring repair procedures.

Some 2009-2014 F-150/Taurus/Flex/MKT/MKS, 2010-2015 F-Super Duty, 2011-2014 Explorer vehicles may experience binding, grinding, squealing and/or popping noise when the seat is moved forward or rearward. Service inventories have been updated with revised seat motor/bracket kits(14547), for lower service part replacement procedure. Follow the On-line Workshop Manual (WSM) section 501-10 for diagnosis and replacement procedures and use available service labor operations.
