Thule clamp to door frame- long term use experience?

Anyone have any long term experience using a Thule Traverse or Aeroblade rack system that clamps to the door frames?   Wondering about paint damage and how the pads hold up over time (2-4 yrs). Also stability in use when loaded with a couple of boats, etc...
