I have a 2010 SEL w/ Ecoboost. I've been trying to use it to pull my boat which weighs around 4000. I get excessive noise from the rear when towing, sounds like some grinding/growling type noise. Only does this while pulling the boat.

At first I just hooked up to my receiver (factory installed tow package w/ Class III hitch) really settled the back so I invested in a WD hitch. I successfully set up and adjusted the hitch so that measurements at wheel wells before and after trailer is connected are nearly identical. The noise still persists.

It does not make this noise while towing lighter trailers or the boat trailer without the boat.

It seems like there is ample power from the ecoboost but with the grinding noise from the rear I've been hesitant to tow more than a mile or so and not at highway speeds.

Anybody have any experience with this or any thought?
