How many miles should a V6 engine last with proper care. I have always owned V8'S.

Number of cylinders has no effect on the length of an engine's life. it's pretty rare for any engines to fail on any vehicles these days.

From an engineering/design standpoint, Ford engines are suppose to last 350,000 miles before any major service or engine tear-down is required.
