I ordered my Flex on 12/18. The dealer told me multiple times that it would take 4-6 weeks. After we showed up at the dealer, signed the papers and signed over the title on our trade in, the owner then said 6-8 weeks. This week they told us it will be manufactured on 2/20. Check other posts in forums here. It sounds like it takes more than a month to get the vehicles after they are manufactured.

I expressed my dissatisfaction with this situation to the dealer and he literally told me, "people wouldn't buy if we didn't tell them 4-6 weeks." He says Ford tells them to say 4-6 weeks regardless of the actual wait. My buddy ordered a Mini and got emails every other day about the status of his order. It took Ford and my dealer 7 weeks to tell me the manufactured date, whatever that means. I do not have a good first impression.

I definitely would not have signed over the Title of your trade in before they were ready to deliver your new Flex.

Why would you have signed over the last bit of bargaining power you had with the trade? Bad move, imo. Also, I was told 6-8 weeks. It will be 1 month on Tuesday....so I dunno who to believe.

They offered $500 more to trade it in then. I was going away for 2 of what I was told would be 4-6 weeks, so it didn't seem like much of an inconvenience. Rest assured I won't ever do this again. Still, creepy of them to do. I owned an Acura in the past and was never treated this way by the dealer. I thought the American car companies were finally starting to learn how to treat people.

When you ordered yours, how long did it take from manufactured date until it was in your hands?

I ordered it on 10/28/2009, rolled off the assembly line on 12/2/2009 and I picked it up on 1/14/2010.

I traded in two vehicle on my 2010 Flex. About two weeks after I ordered the Flex the dealer called me and asked if I would bring in one of the trade-ins. I guess they had a buyer for it. Since twelve Ford dealers went out of business here on Long Island, NY in the past eighteen months, I didn't think it would be a good idea. Also if something had gone wrong with the Flex purchase, the deal would have been imposable to unwind.

Their check for the trade in cleared, so it's mostly a giant inconvenience. Of course, they refuse to supply a loaner. Given the amount of time it took for yours to arrive after manufacture, I think it's time to get out of this deal. I'm sure the dealer till tell me it'll be there right after it's manufactured, but I can't believe anything they say any more.

Here in NY the Dealer can not pay you for the trade in before you take delivery of the new vehicle. The value of the trade must come off the purchase price of the new car, or else you would loose the sales tax deduction.

Please don't confuse 'Ford' with your dealer. You mentioned Mini and Acura...and while I'm glad you and your friend had good experiences, they were good because of the dealer, not the manufacturer. Similarly, it sounds like you have a disreputable dealer, which is not the same as an issue with FORD.

I would definitely try to unwind this deal and take your business elsewhere.

If Acura can make their dealers provide a pleasant experience, why can't Ford? Also, my dealer claims Ford makes them say 4-6 weeks regardless of the actual wait. Obviously, I can't tell whether he's lying, but I shouldn't have to worry about it.

P.S. In the case of Mini, it was the company that was providing updates on progress, not the dealer. Ford could do that too.

I asked my dealer how long it would take after manufacture to delivery and he said 10 to 14 days. That's not consistent with your experience. Based on his accuracy so far, I suspect I wouldn't get mine until late March or early April. I think he just makes up these estimates. Has anyone else had deliver in 10-14 days?

My Flex was held up at the Plant because of the PTU debacle.

Fwiw, I ordered my Flex Limited last Friday, and was told 6-8 weeks delivery from the Oakville plant, Ontario. That would be great as my current vehicle lease is up on April 1.

Good luck!

I'm not familiar with the PTU debacle, but you're giving me some hope. I take that whatever it was is over?

Here is my update:

I just spoke with my sales rep. I am now being told IT IS NOT EVEN IN PRODUCTION YET. It has been 4 full weeks since the order and, NO VIN, NO PROD date nothing. The sales rep says MINIMUM 6 weeks (plus the 4 already elapsed) is 10 weeks. I'm going to add in 2 for "misc" delays and we got ourselves 12 FRIGGIN WEEKS.

My other vehicle goes back at the end of FEB. Which is why we ordered it early in Jan we were told 6-8 weeks. Coincided very well. In reality, not true. So CRAP.Posted Image

I see your dealer was also not straightforward.

Good luck to you too. I hope your estimate proves more reliable than mine.
